DESSERT
Altolandon Dulce Enero Ice Wine (Manchuela, Spain) $24 (reg $37)
Ice wine from Spain?!? Altolandon is 1,100 meters in elevation (3,600ft). It gets COLD there in the winter. This is Spain's first ever Ice Wine and it is delicious. In addition, it's naturally made with no SO2 added. Tropical fruit, good acid, medium sweetness with the finesse that only an ice wine can have. 100% Petit Manseng, the grapes are left on the vine until January when temperatures have remained below -5° Celsius (23°F) for at least five days. The frozen grapes are hand-harvested and immediately pressed in the vineyard in order to break down the ice crystals. Organically farmed, spontaneously fermented, No SO2 added.
